Longest Serving Non-Violent 1st Time Offender in the WORLD??

It is rumored throughout some of the prison reform group movements, that I, George Martorano, may be the “LONGEST SERVING NON-VIOLENT 1st TIME OFFENDER IN THE WORLD”, with the charges and sentence I received. There may be others that have been caged longer, but I believe their crimes were far more serious.
Imagine, for I am the one the talk is about, and I find that insane-anyone else??
I have been caged for 26 years and this is is what I truely ponder daily… “I have been caged 26 years, I would take 26 HOURS of “normal life” away from the zookeepers-then they could return me here, place me against the taxpayers prison wall and shoot me down”
As I have stated in numerous writtings, Americans believe in their justice system-believe that all the mad animals are locked away-believe they are safe since the “bad guys” are locked up-believe that the prison systems rehab criminals before release. I am here to tell you NOT ALL of that is true. Most of the guys I have met along my journey are guys just like me AND YOU-people who got greedy or stupid and involved themselves with crime. I have agreed through the years that yes, I needed to be punished for mine-But, what happens when they throw you away with no hope? You go mad, locked in a cage-I have not, but do see the many that have. All I am really trying to say is, that, when you punish someone, do it right. I have been punished long enough for my crimes and have earned a “second chance”. When and how do I get it??
Right now the American economy is facing the worst of times-people get bills in their mail slots they are afraid to open-jobs are gone-stock markets are unsteady-banks are folding-things are tough-I know at times like this it’s hard to think about me and my plight, but I suffer daily in ways none of you could ever imagine-Please, I ask everyone that visits this blog and the WeBelieveGroup website, write, email or call the White House. Express your support for my release-26 years caged is enough, I DID NOT KILL ANYONE and have read recently how the guy up in Georgia that KILLED A JUDGE and 3 others got the same sentence as me-MAKE SENSE????

What to say?? My 25th Christmas “caged”. I haven’t sent out any holiday cards since the death of my son. I can’t. I do phone my daughter on all the holidays. I smile on the holidays. The smile does not mean alot since it is only of the face, and not the heart these days. I don’t know if my heart can smile anymore. I will keep trying though.

If I could make it so that every child has a great Christmas, I would – even if it meant I would have to burn in hell.

I never feared much, now, I fear nothing. They have done all they can to punish me; now I just sit warehoused.

Earlier today, I got ahold of a “pear”. I haven’t seen a pear in years. I held it… studied it… it’s colors and smells… then I ate it… slowly. What pleasure, imagine, something as simple as a pear bringing pleasure. Maybe I should have learned this earlier in life, simple pleasures, maybe I would’nt be where I am today.

I wish the people in Washington, the elected officials, would start moving on these “prison-reform” bills. I wish this because each year, more and more of us are dying while warehoused. Being warehoused can make one very tired. I am getting tired.

I remember a while back when they used to bus us from one facility to another (now they fly you, sometimes). 16-18 hour rides on a bus, chained to another person, a stranger. Each day stopping at some county jail. They would wake us up at 4am, chain us, and load us up for another 16 hour ride to another hell hole. Imagine doing this for 10-14 days, well I did do it. A trip from Miami to New York took 2 weeks. The bus would stop everywhere picking up and dropping off inmates along the way. I took another 4 month trip from Lewisburg in Pa. to L.A. County jail. They say it was by mistake. On these trips you would get tired, dog tired, all the way to the bone tired. One way to get a rest was to get into a squrmish, a fight of sorts. They would then throw you in the “hole” till the next bus came.

I wanted to weep one day, you see, I was so tired and weak that I had to hit my friend just to get a rest. I learned that day to not hit in the head, just the torso. I have passed this on to many a convict. You get the rest you need and don’t really have to hurt anyone in the process.

I am sorry this is all I have this holiday season. Christmas, it is supposed to be joyous-it’s the day our Lord was born.

I wish I could “pen” warmth, I can’t.

I wish I could weep like before, I can’t.

I wish I could stop the pain and suffering of the world, I can’t.

I wish I could send a Christmas card, I can’t.

I know the part of loneliness I wish I never knew. I wish and wonder if I’ll ever be a funny person as before… I will try, but, I don’t know if I can…

Christmas Wishes

It’s 3 days before Christmas and it looks like my “Christmas Wish” is not coming true again this year. In all actuallity, I wish everyday for George to be free. I guess I still feel the “little kid in me anticipation” of having that one “Wish” at Christmas time answered.

I have tried and tried to bring recognition to the fact that George is ready to come home. His sentence of LIFE NO PAROLE is nuts. I have emailed, snail mailed, called, and visited with everyone I can to get George some kind of relief from this crazy sentence (by the way, this will be George’s 25th Christmas in federal prison). George let greed and stupidity lure him into the crazy drug world WAY WAY back in 81-82-he plead guilty to his NON-VIOLENT 1st time offenses. He got what I see as basically a “DEATH SENTENCE” – how is it that, child molesters, rapist and other VIOLENT criminals get little and sometimes NO JAIL TIME???

George has hope; something he passes onto me everytime I have contact with him. I think, danm, if George can handle 25 years of the shit he has been dealt while imprisoned, I can handle what comes my way out here. I just don’t wish for George to be free, I wish for George to be free so that he can share his talents and qualities he has attained, all while caged. He is an amazing man. He has earned and deserves a “second chance”.

You can see, hear and feel who he is in his writings-as I have told many, “I don’t know who George was 25 years ago, but, after 6 years of being his best friend, I can tell you who he is today”. Fact is, he has more than paid for his crimes and needs to be released—Which again brings me to my “Christmas Wish” FREE GEORGE MARTORANO-ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
