Caged Killers??
I wonder if a study was ever done of how many inmates have died, due to violence with other inmates – what the results would be. How many lives are taken within the walls, the bars and the violence of these caged institutions on a yearly basis?
What if, if I state the fact that there is less killing among “zoo” animals, that are also caged. Yes, it’s sad but true. The killing amongst us within these walls is more frequent than one wants to imagine. I can only ask why, and does anyone care??
Then, what to do? All one can do is write, write about it, and hope someone cares. I want people to understand that what I see, could be called, the ‘killing fields”. While things are “ok” here at the Medium, things are not at most USP’s. I see and hear the “lifeline” helicopter coming and going on a regular basis. I hear through the grapevine that “this one, or that one” was stabbed and was on one of those flights. I have to ask, how, and why, has the system allowed these killing fields to exsist? No answers in sight.
Imagine what it must be like for these first timers when they arrive at these places… these hell holes… most, not all, have their minds and sometimes body, destroyed quickly.
I, at times, when blessed by God to do so, have saved a few from the destruction. But, the incarceration rate is so huge and I am only one. Sometimes I can only be a voice, but I wonder, is anyone hearing me??

This was one of the more tragic of your writes. For years I have thought and prayed about the forgotten people behind prison cells. Reform is needed but who can bring just fair much needed drastic and balanced changes?? Only those who have endued the pain and hardship of such tragic heartbreaking conditions!! Along with those who will be coming into office in the coming years that desire to serve and honor God and their fellow man.
What you have endured George has not been cruel testing, but painful preparation for the wonderful life work you are about to do. There are men of truth, men that fear and reverence God still in our nation, still in our goverment. God is about to raise up the humble to take positions of authority and to help implement real much needed change in our nation.
I encourage you to have faith, peace be still, know that our loving God is a just God, and know that no life is ever lived or slaughtered in vain. The cries of the innocent are always heard by heaven above and what seems like an endless plea for mercy unheard, is only a micro second to God who sees all, knows all and will have His son Jesus Christ judge all according to how they chose to live.
