Random Drug Testing

Friday, May 25th, I went to visit George as I always do once a week. I fillied out my paperwork and waited to be called for the “screening” process. The process includes removing your shoes, belt, and jewlery not made of gold. You then have to go through a metal detector (NO WIRE BRAS).

As I looked around the waiting room I could see I only had a few more people ahead of me. Suddenly my name was called ahead of the others that were there before me. Puzzled I was. The guard informed me I was “randomly” picked for a “drug screening”. I informed him this was the third time in my last four visits that I was chosen at “random”.

On one of “random” screenings my step-daughter Nicky was also tested, both of us “randomly” picked, right in a row. Total BS as far as I am concerned. While I don’t fear the test since I don’t do drugs, I do fear the FALSE readings the machine IS KNOWN to pop out. I complained about the “randomness”, but I am sure it fell on deaf ears. Anyways, I passed and had a wonderful visit.

My purpose of this posting is to let people know that when you visit a prison, whether it’s state or federal, be prepared !!! DON’T handle money, put it in a CLEAR plastic bag. When you get there, WASH your hands and try to avoid as much contact with EVERYTHING in the waiting room.

I have seen 85 year old mothers that have traveled across the country turned away for failing the “random drug testing” NOT because they are “muling” drugs into the facilities, but because they touched money, or wore a perfume that caused a ‘FALSE” reading. Again, be prepared and know your rights – if you happen to come up positive and KNOW you are clean, CHALLENGE IT!! Have them de-contaminate the machine and area around it, have them get a Lt. or someone from the “legal dept” prior to re-testing – What ever you do, don’t throw in the towel.

I hope this entertained you as much as it informed you!!!
